The Sunday after Thanksgiving is reportedly the busiest day of the year at U.S. airports. AAT decided to head down to Oakland International on 26 Nov 2006, despite the nasty weather and an unresponsive free-speech-permitting bureaucracy, to see whether orange t-shirts and signs telling who we were waiting for - Habeas Corpus, D. E. Mocracy, Bill O'Rights, Justice - might produce some results. Alas, other than a few friendly smiles and a few muttered dismissals, the port bureaucrats with the OPD in tow were the parties most interested in our presence. With the usual (heretofore empty) assurances that they'd look into why the airport has refused to respond honestly and in a reasonable time to attempts to obtain the "required" permit, AAT was shown the sliding glass door within an hour of our arrival.

Though it felt a bit like waiting for Godot...

People passing by without a second glance
Nope, that's not him.

Talking it over with the OPD
It wasn't easy to understand why we couldn't stay, but this Oakland police officer was firmly convinced we had to go.
